Our Idea

For our Research Project, the team came up with this solution.  In our community, garbage is picked up twice a week by garbage trucks who then haul the trash away to a collection point.  From this point, there are other trucks who then take this garbage and take it either to landfills or to be burned.  To eliminate garbage trucks and landfills /burnings, we came up with the idea of using pneumatic tubes to suck garbage to a central point from the houses. In this central point the garbage company would then sort the garbage into three categories:  Recyclable, Bio-degradable, and all other garbage (classified as solid waste).  From this point recyclable and bio-degradable would be removed for their own processing.  The remaining garbage would be compacted into balls and it would then be pneumatically transported to a Plasma Enhanced Melter.  This device destroys garbage by heating it to 850 degrees Celsius. This completely destroys the garbage in an environment-friendly way.
